treo 650
My mobile plan is up for renewal soon and I have been thinking of getting a treo 650. Marc Orchant recently purchaed a treo and has posted his initial impressions.
Last year I purchased a xda2 which became water damaged so upon receiving an insurance monies I went back to my old nokia phone and got a tungsten t3. My main issues with the xda2 was that it was a pocketpc (I have always had a palm) and secondly that the phone was just so bulky that I found that I didn’t carry it as much as I should. The thing is, there are times when I don’t need my pda, like when I am working in the garden on my day off and the small nokia phone is just so handy. On the other hand I do like carrying only one device when I am at work.
Any opinions out there on the treo 650?
Every comparasion of phone/pda combo’s that I have read seem to have the treo as the best. I wonder if a new version is on the horizon as built in wifi would be nice.

I have a Treo 600 and it is awesome! I had a separate phone and palm previous to that, but there is a significant bonus to having them together. I love only having one gadget to carry around, it’s so much easier. Also, now that the phone and palm are combined I find that I use the palm features much more. The integration of address book and phone book is a huge win, plus it all gets backed up in a way it never did on my nokia.
I use my Treo for Phone Calls, SMS, Email (when I’m away), Web news (sports scores only), Address Book, Calendaring, To Do Lists (combined with Calendaring now - brilliant!), Memos, Bible Reading and Games (those terrible addictive ones that you can’t stop playing).
From what I’ve read the Treo 650 keeps the great bits of the Treo 600 and improves on the not so great bits.

Tim, have you used datebk4 or agendus - both of which I have used on my tungsten t3 (and other older devices) and I note they now have special functionality for treo users.

I’ve had my Treo 650 for about a week, and I love it. I used to carry a Tungsten E. I do have a few peeves: I opted for a hard aluminum case, which adds weight and thickness to an already thick phone. I wish there was some way the Palm engineers could have gotten this phone as thin as the Razr 3. And I wish it had Wifi, but I eventually plan to use a Bluetooth NIC on my laptop for TCP/IP The other is you’ll leave cheekprints on the LCD when talking. I just can’t bring myself to wear an earpiece. I got a Boxwave screen protector, which is a must-have: clearer than the one that ships from Palm. Overall, I rate this phone a 10.
A few folks in the Treo chat rooms say there’s no way that Palm will offer Wifi. With so many public access points, Wifi capability will lessen the revenue for Palm’s cell providors. I’m not completely convinced of that, but that’s what I hear.
