Mobile phones ’safe for brains’
A recent study suggests that Mobile phones ‘are safe for brains’
Using a mobile phone does not increase the risk of developing a brain tumour, the latest research suggests.
The Danish study, which appears in the journal Neurology, involved more than 1,000 people. But the authors say long-term data is still needed because the technology has not been around long enough to know for sure if mobiles cause any ill health.
Of course there is probably other studies suggesting possible problems. It is hard to know what to do with information of this ilk. Do you ignore the doom sayers who have been saying that mobile phones are causing cancer? I have one friend who refuses to hold his mobile to his ear and will only talk on his mobile through a earpiece. Needless to say, it occurs to me that having your phone in your pocket means that the possible radiation may be away from your brain but other parts of the body may be effected.
I am too young to remember but I guess that studies on smoking causing cancer was probably a similar yo-you affair for a while. So, we will have to wait and see.
For the time being, anyone up for moving back to pagers?
