A Treo in the palm

Treo650My phone contract was up, and so it was time for a new phone. I chose the treo 650 and so far I am very impressed. I used to have a xda2 and I just found the phone/pda integration clunky. It is possible that this feeling was because I was also making the leap from the palm operating system to windows mobile. I am not sure. But for whatever reason the xda2 was not a good experience for me.

There are simply so many nice things about the Treo and it is obvious that a lot of care and attention has gone into the design of this phone/pda.

I downloaded the latest version of Agendus which I have loved in previous incarnations. But, I am shocked. This wonderful program runs like a dog on the treo. So, I loaded up datebk5 and oh the bliss. I must say that it surprises me immensely that as much as the built in applications have been improved a week to a view has still not been included. Surely PIM designers understand that a week to a view is not a luxury item but an absolute essential part of an electronic diary or any diary system for that matter.

Knowing that I often find problems with new toys (cough cough, I mean personal productivity tools hey James!), I will post up some reflections in a couple of weeks.

But so far so good. Nice feel when you use the phone (which was not the case on the xda) and wonderful keyboard. The Graffiti system has gone and with the wonderful designed keyboard is no loss.

Task management is a breeze for the GTD processes. One advantage that I think a  combo device offers is that it encourages you to have your pda with you at all time. I carry my phone always but not always my pda and for GTD that is not always the best.

One query that I have for any experienced Treo users out there is this: Is there some way to automatically synchronise the treo using bluetooth at a certain frequency. It seems to me that this would be ideal a couple of times a day – so when I get up from my desk it is likely that the treo will be ready to go. Anyone?

I think BTSync may be able to do the trick:

I am sorry to hear you had problems with the latest Agendus. I am running it without problems on my Treo 650. Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss, or check our support site at http://support.iambic.com. Best regards, Vidal. President, iambic.
