MS AntiSpyware downgrades Claria
According to this Register article, the latest definitions for Microsoft AntiSpyware directs the program to set the default action to ‘Ignore’ when it detects Claria’s Spyware on your system.

Frankly, I find this to be appauling.

As far as I’m concerned, Spyware is Spyware, and this is NOT changed by which companies Microsoft choose to get into bed with, acquire, or do deals with.

Gator/Claria spyware is notorious, and the company, and it’s activities, are still the subject of scorn amongst IT ‘people’ whereever their name is mentioned.

Would someone at Microsoft perhaps care to explain, just WHY the default action is now ‘ignore’??

This thread is causing quite a bit of debate and discussion at channel 9. As someone says in the thread it will be interesting to see if Microsoft or Scoble comment on this issue. This is not a wise move by Microsoft as Claria is one of the most well-known spyware around.
