IGN’s top 100 computer games

This list represents the thoughts, sweat and tears of over 20 IGN editors, all long-time gamers. We voted, we sorted, we yelled, we cried, we took a little nap and eventually this is the list we came up with — our Top 100 Games of All-Time, at least for this year.

“Why is it different from your previous list?,” you may be asking. “Did you all suffer a massive head injury on the tour bus and just plumb forget?” There are a number of reasons for the changes: several great games have been released since we created the last list, some people who voted in 2003 are no longer at IGN (RIP Frank Gorshin), and we’ve had some n00bs join our ranks. We’re also not too stubborn to admit that some of our gaming tastes have changed over time.

Like last time, our criteria for this uber-list of games consisted of a variety of factors, including how good the game was compared to others at the time, the overall game design, how well it stood up over the long-haul, how influential it was in the realm of gaming and just plain how much fun we had playing the damn things.

We’ll start with games 100-91 and work our way down to the golden ten, giving up ten more games a day for the next ten days.
