Managing Your “To Do List” with MindManager
The mindjet blog posts up a template, as well as some thoughts on how to use mindmanager to organise your to do list.
There is no mention of synching it with outlook which I think is one of the best features of mindmanager to manage your todo’s. For GTD addicts you would obviously set up the mind map differently.
My use of mindmap is always evolving but I have found having a top level map that has all my projects illustrated and grouped by status – active, seeding, maybe, and also a category called small projects. From here I don’t enter in any data (except for the small projects), but I linked to individual mindmaps for each project. There is something very nice in being able to view all your projects in one hit. In some ways, I find that I see opportunities to move projects to the next stage because of this visual view of all my projects.
At this stage, I am still finding that managing the details of tasks as they are done quickly during the day easier in outlook in task lists. I use mindjet’s facility for outlook synchronisation, to grab categories of outlook tasks and synchronise them. This makes synchronising tasks for each project nice and snappy.
At this stage it is a priority for me and just makes sense to be able to input a task in my treo while in a meeting and get that to my project map quickly. I am thinking through at the moment the best way to get these new tasks into my projects. Sometimes these tasks might be associated with existing projects and sometimes they might initiate new projects. At the moment I have been assigning the tasks with their project by categories when I enter it on my treo. If it is a new project then I leave it as unfiled category and grab those into my top level project overview mind map. From here I can create a new project map or do what I want with the task. Like all GTD processes I set up I need to give it time to see if it will work – I will let you know.
I am watching results manager progress with interest and am looking forward to the next version.

I’ve been using Results Manager for several months now. As someone with lots of projects and deadlines, it really does the job.
