entry level notebook
A post by Mrs Geekyinfo
So the succession of old notebooks are beginning to pack up. For almost 10 years I have been surviving on using Phil’s hand me downs when he upgrades to a new system. As a result I have consistently had those niggling problems that don’t justify a new system but which annoy nonetheless - an intermittently working battery, connections a little bit lose, Windows XP runs too slow and so on.
The latest laptop is packing up with random shut downs and all sorts of weird behaviour so it is time to try and pick up a new budget notebook to last me the next little while.
This review recommends the Targa Xtender A510 which is probably at the upper range of my price preference, as well as the Dell 510M. I have had a bit of a fiddle with a Dell and they seem okay, although the model I was using is pretty old. However, for that price, I might as well opt for the entry level Sony, as they have served Phil, and by extension me, well for several years.
Previous experience rule out Compaq and Packard Bell. And hey, in the range we are talking about, it might be worth really ramping up the jealousy stakes in the family and lashing out on an iBook to match my iPod. Mind you, the down side on that is that I would have to use iTunes.
Any suggestions or experiences of low end notebooks including recommendations?
