Nokia 6102
‘Cingular has launched the Nokia 6102, shortly after its launch at T-Mobile USA (T-Mobile launched the 6101, which is the same phone except for GSM 850 which was added in place of GSM 900 for Cingular). Features of the clamshell style Nokia include:
- EDGE high-speed data
- 128 × 160 pixel screen with 65K colors
- Speakerphone
- Yahoo! IM and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM)’
(From Mobiletracker)
The nokia website says:
‘The Nokia 6102 phone* is a special operator customized model. Packed with the same features as the Nokia 6101 phone, the Nokia 6102 phone also comes equipped with several key extras like exclusive design, co-branding on phone covers, and software customization options ‘

Nokia 6102 = NOGO with Yahoo Messenger!
My Nokia 6102b has a problem with Yahoo IM. As suggested by Cingular support, resetting the phone did not fix it, and removing the battery while powered up did not fix it either. I also tried to CLEAR THE CACHE ( https://cingular.atgnow.com/cng/tutorials/KB54338.html)
as suggested, but even that did not help.
Yahoo IM was working OK on the Cingular Nokia 6102 until a few weeks ago. While trying to send a message via Yahoo Messenger, I got several DATA ERRORS, the phone crashed TWICE, and I have not been able to send any IM since.
I can log in to Yahoo Messenger, and all my contacts show up with online and offline status. I can receive IMs, but as soon as I try sending out one IM, I cannot receive any IM until I quit the app and restart it. It looks to me like my IMs are sending, but nobody ever gets them.
After trying to send, when I quit the IM, this exact error is displayed:
Item rejected.
No space.
Instant mess…
Cingular support says it is now eligible for a RMA warranty exchange before December 15th.
I have seen many similar complaints about IM with the Nokia 6102; for example, see http://forums.cingular.com/cng — so next time, I will try the LG C2000 instead.

Hi!.
I’m thinking about dropping TracFone and going with T-Mobile. I’m
looking at a Nokia 6102 for my Grandpa. My only problem is that my
Grandpa is a little hard of hearing and can’t hear some of the ring
tones that are on some cell phones. He had a Nokia 5180ip and couldn’t
hear it half the time.
I got him a Nokia 1100, it was a little better but not much. I then
got him a Nokia 2600 and there was one ringtone on it that was pretty
good for him and he could hear it pretty well. Forget the vibrate
function. They all suck equally in all cell phones.
Does anybody know if the Nokia 6102 is as loud as the Nokia 2600? Or
can the ring tone be put through the speakerphone on the Nokia 6102 to
be really loud like the Nextel junk?
I need something really loud for him. The 6102 has all the bells and
whistles he wants. He’s not really old, just can’t hear crap.
He’s pretty well set on the 6102
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I am just learning how to send photos from my Nokia 6102i to email addresses and do not find detailed instructions on the Cingular web page(s).
Please send to above email address details in layman’s terms on how to
input an email address from a cell phone keypad.
Thank you.
