‘Microsoft lost the bidding war for Konfabulator, the father of widgets, to Yahoo but this didn’t stop Redmond from integrating widgets into Windows Vista. The highly anticipated OS will feature widgets that will be called Microsoft Gadgets. Even though Arlo Rose created the small applets, two major companies integrated the products in their operating Systems. Arlo would be feeling like Xerox if Yahoo didn’t buy out the company for an undisclosed sum.’

While I personally have not had a widget that I have found useful for day to day work, they sure seem to be popular. So, it is good that Microsoft is listening as this is one area that Apple has always beaten Microsoft in my opinon – adding the cute stuff.

It seems that Vista will be different in this regard.
