Nokia 6111

A post from Mrs Geekyinfo.  Bought myself a new phone the other day now that my old phone had just about carked it.  I chose the Nokia 6111 which is a pretty cool looking addition for me.  I like the slide function (provided that it holds up) - the ability to do most things (read SMS, view messages, view phone book, view calendar etc) without actually accessing the key pad means that it stays pretty compact most of the time.  Unlocking the automatic lock is easy enough after setting the slide unlock feature.

Though not a PDA, the 6111 does helpfully integrate your address book, calendar and to do lists with outlook and similar programs, allowing you to both sync your information and edit your address book on the computer.  Given that I use my PDA mainly for checking rather than entering information, if the memory and functionality of this feature proves up to scratch, it may mean that I can do without my Palm Tungsten, which would enable me to shed yet another gadget for the same functionality.

The features are easy to use and customisable, though I am contantly amazed at the number of included features which require me to pay to use them.  The latest idea is push to talk (PTT) which has an enormously complex system of payments.  That is not the killer about PTT though, because I have no idea why this function would be useful for anyone.  The overview on Telstra suggests that it enables you to use your phone as a walkie talkie (no dialing etc) and even talk to multiple people at once.  Yeah, but why?

Does anyone ever use this function?
