Getting going with Vista and my Pocket PC - UAC and other annoyances:
It’s been a couple of weeks since Windows Vista was officially released. I’ve been playing with betas for a while now but I’ve always reserved final judgement pending the release of the production version.
My initial reaction - User Account Control (UAC) is very poorly implemented. On several occassions I’ve been able to make an installation look like it’s hung simply by multitasking. I start the installation, start doing something else and the progress bar on the installation just sits there, doing nothing. Unless I return the installation to the foreground the installation will eventually fail as I’ve not acted on the UAC dialog - eeven though I couldn’t see it.”
