ways to get more twitter followers
Guy Kawasaki has written an article on how to pick up followers on twitter. I found his tips very helpful as I learn this new medium.
He opens with an interesting anecdote of his experience of using twitter to get help on a real life problem:
“At 10:15 pm I discovered that I had not brought a Macbook power supply
on the trip. I was in a hotel on Coronado Island, and early the next
morning I was flying to an aircraft carrier off San Diego for an overnight visit.
I doubted that the carrier had Macbook power supplies laying around, so
I was in trouble. I posted a message to Twitter that I was in this
predicament, and within ten minutes, five people offered to bring me a
power supply. I took one of them up on the offer, and he delivered it to mewithin an hour. “

Wide format email apps for iphone
Macworld have an interesting article that roadtests wide format email apps for the iphone. While I can see some advantages, I am pretty happy with the standard app. It is one of those apps that just works as you expect. Maybe it is because I am used to mail.app on the notebook and desktop computers.
“Since Apple released the first iPhone in June 2007, a frequent complaint among users has been the lack of a landscape keyboard in more applications.
Users got a taste of this wider, larger-button keyboard in the mobile
version of Safari and wished they could use it for text entry in other
scenarios. Composing e-mail is easily the most-common example; after
all, with the exception of those in the SMS crowd, more typing time is
spent in Mail than in any other app.”

I have started to use twitter fairly regularly now. I actually signed up some time ago but it is during this second attempt that I am starting to get it. The first time around it just seemed a poor excuse for a blogging platform or even cool technology that was looking for a practical use and a reason for its invention.
Well this time, something has clicked and I am really enjoying it.
Here is a great article that has some 101 twitter resources.
“It seems like every day I see more and more being written about Twitter.
I have to admit that I don’t really get the fascination with micro
blogging, but it’s becoming more and more common, and many bloggers
find the services to be extremely useful for connecting with their
audience. With all of the information that I’ve been seeing on Twitter,
I decided to put together this collection of resources.”
